NEWRBA annual Junior tournament at Flint – U17s and U13s
A disappointing entry in the U17s with only six boys – Srinath Ranjit (Prestatyn), and Mold's Jon Savory, Josh Wynn, Jordan Ellis,Tom Peace and Chris Owen.
In the singles semis Jon beat Jordan 21-11 and Josh beat Tom 21-10. The final was very close with some good tactical play and quality stroke play by both players; Jon just won 20-22, 21-13, 21-19.
In the doubles final Jordan and Tom raised their game to beat Jon and Chris 21-14, 21-14.
In the U13 boys singles final Elliot Wheeler (Flint) beat Tim Kingsnorth (Mold) 21-14, 21-13.
In the doubles final Elliot and Tim combined to form a very solid partnership to beat Ananth and Arjunan Ranjit Prestatyn) 21-12.
In the girls singles Isabelle Cain (CQ) beat Sophie Ellis (Mold) 21-7 in the semis and Ellen Liddle (Flint) in the final 21-12, 21-19. Ellen beat Sophie Wilson in her semi. In the doubles Isabelle and Ellen are developing a strong partnership but were made to fight all the way by Sophie Wilson and Sarah Travers (Flint), just winning 21-18.
In the U15 Shires League Flintshire lost to a very strong Lancashire team 3-17 but there were a number of very commendable performances.
Daniel Font and Danielle Oates narrowly lost top mixed 20-22, 16-21. Daniel went on to win a great three game top singles 14-21, 22-20,21-17 and with Joe Travers won both boys doubles – 21-16, 21-18 and 21-19, 21-14.Though Matt Burrows and Dan Hardman lost both their matches they fought hard losing one game only 23-25.
Danielle and Eli Clough were unlucky not to win one girls doubles; they kept battling away before going down 17-21, 21-17, 15-21.

No surprises here with Mold A maintaining top spot with 6-0, 6-0 wins over both Mold B and Flint A. Connahs Quay A also won both their matches against Flint A (5-1) and Mold B (4-2)
Div 2
Zoe Hughes playing her first Junior League match for Mold D and enjoying every minute of it. Despite losing both her matches she managed 6 points in her singles against Stewart Brackenbury of Buckley A and 4 points against Ben Harrison of Mold C.
Div 3
Newcomers Prestatyn A progressing to second division after 6-0, 6-0 wins over Connahs Quay C and Deeside A.
Both Prestatyn A and Llanferres A won their matches to maximum points although Deeside A were one player short and had to concede two games to Llanferres giving them 26 points.
However, Prestatyn took the promotion with only 46 points against compared to 55 for Llanferres.
Div 4
Denbigh A won both their games 5-1, 5-1 with Jonathan Tipping (Prestatyn B) taking 2 nd singles (13-4) and Nick Prtak also taking 2 nd singles for Llanferres B (13-8)
Div 5
Flint B had a 6-0 win over Llanferres C who were 2 players short and Deeside B went on to beat Flint B 5-1 and Llanferres 6-0 to gain promotion to division 4.
