U13 Double for Matthew Vacher
In the singles semi Matthew beat Lloyd Martin (Mold)15-10, 15-3 and then Andrew Phillips (Manchester) 21-11, 21-18 in the final. Partnering Connor Hughes (Conwy) Matthew won the doubles final 21-12, 21-18 against Andrew and Chris Bellis.
In the girls singles final Ellen Liddle (Flint) got revenge over Isabelle Cain (CQ) for last week's tournament defeat and won a pulsating, seesaw tussle 22-24, 21-19, 21-16. They combined well in the doubles to beat the improving Jessica Faulkner (CQ) and Sophie Ellis (Mold) 21-11, 21-18.
U15 Hat trick for Tara
In the boys singles quarter final Joe Travers (Flint) fought off a strong challenge from Jack Cooledge (Mold) winning 10-15, 15-6, 15-6 but lost a great semi to Michael Phillips (Manchester) 17-21, 17-21. Chris Owen (Mold) and Matthew Vacher did well to get to the quarter finals. In the doubles quarter finals Joe and Alex Graham (Mold) lost 10-16, 6-15 and Matthew and Adam Stewart (Wrexham) lost 13-15, 3-15.
Tara Moorcroft (Flint) showed improved fitness and played well to clinch the girls singles, beating Zoe Hother (Conwy) 21-10, 15-21, 21-19. Tara and Zoe beat Eli Clough (Llanferres) and Danielle Oates (CQ) 21-15, 21-12 in the doubles.
Tara then completed her hat trick, winning the mixed doubles with Joe 21-12 over Michael and Claire Symionedes (Manchester).
U17
Daniel Font (Mold) was not up to his best, focussed, form in the singles final losing 12-21, 11-21 to his doubles partner Oliver Gwilt (Powys) who played a very fast game, making fewer mistakes. Together they were put under great pressure in a doubles final containing excellent tactical and power play and long, contested rallies, eventually beating Jonathan Savory (Mold) and Joshua au Yeung (Conwy) 21-14, 17-21, 21-15. Jonathan had lost 9-21, 13-21 in a singles semi to Oliver.
Tara Moorcroft played in the girls doubles with Hannah Killick (south Wales – winner of the singles) but lost in the final 21-16, 15-21, 10-21. In the mixed final Daniel partnering Georgia Hughes (Conwy) lost 21-19, 16-21, 10-21 to Joshua and Stephanie Marti-Jones (Conwy).
